Meet Michael

Michael Laidler is a Texas-based leadership keynote speaker and resilience strategist with 20+

years of experience in law enforcement, federal corrections, and executive  leadership. He is a former police

officer, federal agent, associate warden, and John Maxwell Certified Coach. He specializes in leadership

resilience, leading under pressure and through uncertainty, workplace culture, and first responder

leadership development. He is the author of Greatness Beyond the Badge and creator of the

Failure F.U.E.L.S. Growth framework. Michael has spoken for law enforcement agencies, Fortune 500

companies, SHRM chapters, healthcare organizations, government agencies, and public safety organizations

nationwide, helping leaders turn pressure into performance and adversity into long-term resilience.

Hi, I’m Michael

Real leadership is revealed under pressure.

 

After more than 20 years leading in some of the most demanding environments imaginable, I’ve learned that pressure itself is not the problem. The way we respond to pressure and uncertainty determines the trust we build, the decisions we make, and the culture we create. Throughout my career as a police officer and federal executive, I discovered that leadership is tested most when the stakes are highest and the path forward is unclear.

 

My understanding of resilience wasn’t shaped only by my profession, but also by personal adversity. I’ve experienced homelessness, family mental health struggles, divorce, single fatherhood, and the cumulative toll that comes with years of frontline service. Those experiences taught me that adversity can either erode clarity or become the catalyst for growth. They also showed me that everyone is fighting battles others cannot see.

 

That realization led me to develop the Failure F.U.E.L.S. Growth framework—a battle-tested approach that combines lived experience, research, and practical leadership tools to help individuals and organizations turn fear into focus, pressure into performance, and setbacks into lasting resilience. Today, my mission is simple: to help leaders confront what matters most, lead with clarity, and thrive under pressure and through uncertainty.
